What is counselling?

The counselling sessions will provide you with an opportunity to explore what has brought you to therapy. This might include looking at past and present life events, your feelings and emotions, your relationships, your ways of thinking, and patterns of behaviour.

My role is to help you examine the issues you bring, and together we may identify the most helpful course of action—either working towards resolving difficulties or finding ways of coping day-to-day.

What can I expect from counselling?

You will be provided with a safe, non-judgemental and supportive space to explore life’s challenges and to  work towards greater clarity, balance, and wellbeing. You will be treated with respect, kindness and be able to go at your own pace. I am person-centred therapist, which means that the work is driven by you and your unique needs.

How many sessions do I need?

Although it is impossible to predict how many sessions might be needed, as this will depend on what you are bringing, and the pace we work at. Six to eight sessions can be sufficient to make good progress towards your aims, but some individuals prefer to take longer to explore their thoughts and feelings.

Unfortunately, there‘s no single answer to the question. It‘s a matter of regular reviews and your personal choice.

How much does it cost?

My fee is £45.00 per 50-minute session, payable by bank transfer before each appointment. The initial 20 minute consultation is free of charge and is via telephone or online.

I have limited online availability at at a discounted cost to provide affordable and high quality counselling for those who may otherwise struggle to access private therapy. Please email to enquire further.

How does online counselling work?

I offer online, face to face and telephone counselling. My (fully accessible) practice room is located near Bournemouth (BH5). I offer flexibility in how we meet online, either through Teams or Zoom. I will send a meeting invitation ahead of each session.

Online appointments can be easier for some, fitting with lifestyle, accessibility needs  or working hours.

How long are the sessions and how often do we meet?

Each session lasts for 50 minutes and I work on a short-term or long-term basis. We will usually meet weekly. Fortnightly sessions are available by arrangement.

We will work together on a rolling six-week review cycle. At each review, we can reflect on progress, discuss whether further sessions would be helpful, and set intentions for the work ahead. You are free to end counselling at any time.
